Torqos HQ Balustrades
When Torqos moved into their brand-new head office in Sylvia Park, the balustrades were never intended to be standard. The fit-out was bold from the start, with black walls, exposed ducting, halo lighting and an illuminated logo greeting everyone at the top of the stairs, so the glass needed to hold its own. The answer was frameless channel balustrades with a twist: every panel finished in dichroic film.
The glass is toughened laminated with a Sentry Glass interlayer, locked into a Smartlock channel for a clean, frameless line around the mezzanine and stairwell. Each panel was then finished with dichroic film, which works a bit like a prism, letting some colours through and reflecting others. The result is glass that changes depending on where you stand and how the light hits it. From one side the panels glow lime and gold; walk around and they turn electric blue and purple; and around the stairwell the whole run lights up in a deep sunset orange. With no room for bubbles, creases or dust, the team took their time to get every panel spot on, and the finish shows it.
It’s a project that proves safety glass doesn’t have to be boring. The balustrade does exactly what it needs to do, keeping people safe on a busy office floor, while becoming one of the standout features of the space. With a happy client and a fit-out that turns heads, it’s one the Haynes Glass team are proud to have been part of.
